Getting spooky fog results with Ultra Dynamic Sky

It took me a while to find the recipe for handsome looking creepy fog results in Unreal Engine with Ultra Dynamic Sky. Here’s how I did it, just so I can reproduce it next time I need it (section in brackets):

  • enable Cinematic Quality (A1)
  • when using Volumetric Clouds, enable “over opaque” to avoid ghosting issues between fog and clouds (C1)
  • enable Volumetric Fog (F3)
  • to enhance the effect, increase the volumetric scattering (available for moon and sunlight separately)
  • enable Render Global Volumetric Material (optional, but looks cohesive)
